This list provides information about different types of resources which may be helpful for patient-safe design. While they are known to us, no warranty, implied or otherwise is intended by their inclusion. We welcome suggestions for inclusion.

 

International Academy for Design & Health http://www.designandhealth.com/ The Academy publishes a journal, World Health Design, and sponsors a bi-annual congress. The Academy “is a global knowledge community of architects, designers, psychologists, health scientists, clinicians, economists and industry researcher and practitioners.” Its “areas of activities include: education, research, advocacy and awards, events and media.” The Academy website has an excellent set of links to international organizations.

 

Layout-IQ Rapid Modeling Corporation http://www.layout-iq.com/ This software provides a tool for analysis of building floor plans with respect to staff travel distances. It can be used in conjunction with a proprietary data gathering tool which allows tracking of staff activity which can be applied, thru the software, to the building floor plan.
